Job overview
Applications are invited for a position of Art Teacher with the option to complete a 50% timetable with EAL in Japan’s first International Boarding Preparatory (Elementary) School. Ideally, the starting date will be April 2025, the beginning of the Japanese academic year, but it could also be September.
Jinseki International School (jinis.jp/en) opened in April 2020 and is an International Preparatory (or Junior) School offering a high-quality education based on the Japanese National Curriculum and the IPC, as well as other international approaches to teaching and learning.
Set in a truly stunning location with access to some exceptional resources, the Board has bold aims to establish Jinseki International School amongst the very best junior Preparatory schools in the world.
Jinseki International School provides a bilingual environment by teaching in Japanese and English. Academic success is underpinned by strong pastoral care as the school develops its pupils intellectually, emotionally, physically and culturally. As they are prepared for entry to a wide range of schools in Japan and internationally, children build skills, techniques and a love of learning that will serve them throughout their school career and in later life.
The Art/EAL teacher position offers a wonderful opportunity in the Preparatory (Elementary) School environment. The successful candidate, as well as being a fully qualified primary Art teacher, will be excited by how the school may offer something unique, helping to develop the very concept of what an excellent education should provide, with the determination to achieve the best for every child within the school community in line with the school’s ethos.
Jinseki particularly welcomes applications from teachers:
- accustomed to delivering Art lessons to EAL pupils
- with an EAL/TEFL qualification and/or experience
- with a commitment to and experience of boarding school life
- with international experience (especially although not exclusively in Asia).
A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered including free room and board.
We prefer applications through the TES site but candidates may instead download the Application Form, which should be completed and sent with a brief covering letter to Nakajima (Ms) at recruit@jinis.jp Further details of the school can be found on our website at https://jinis.jp/en/. The closing date for the receipt of applications is 9th December. The school aims to appoint before the end of January 2025.
Jinseki International School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be expected to show evidence of their most up-to-date child protection screening details including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or its international equivalent as well as international police checks.
