Northern Education Trust (NET) is a multi-academy Trust that sponsors 21 academies, 11 secondary and 10 primaries, across the North of England with an excellent reputation nationally of improving pupil’s life chances. We are dedicated to promoting the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning and believe that all children, irrespective of background or ability will be successful in our Trust.

Do you have the skills, ability and passion to make a real difference to our children’s lives and help them to succeed?

Through Government catch-up funding, we are offering an exciting opportunity for exceptional individuals to join a nationally recognised Trust to support selected pupils on an individual and small-group basis.

The aim of this programme is to provide additional support to pupils who have been most affected by the school closures as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and address the implications of lost learning.

As a 1-2-1 and small group Tutor, you will work closely with students to support their progression and assist in the development of suitable intervention materials for use within sessions. You will work with class teachers to plan and deliver intervention programmes.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold qualified teacher status and are able to demonstrate that you can work with individual pupils to progress their learning in English and Maths

• Have specific knowledge of English and Maths at KS1 and KS2.

• Have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills

• Be committed to safeguarding and resonate with the vision and values of Northern Education Trust

• Demonstrate the drive and ability to work with and have a real interest in the issues faced by our children, particularly owing to the Covid-19 pandemic

Northern Education Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check. We expect all adults who work for the Trust to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our students.

If you feel that you share our values and are committed to working to enhance the life chances of young children, please download an application pack from www.northerneducationtrust.org or contact Eileen Chapman, Business Manager by email at e.chapman@northerneducationtrust.org or by telephone on 01642 602029.

Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to The Oak Tree Academy.  I am delighted to be the Principal at such a happy and successful academy where all decisions are made with the best interests of children at heart.  I am proud of the academy and I feel privileged to work with enthusiastic and motivated learners, inspirational staff, supportive parents, wider community and a forward thinking Governing Body.

We are committed to the highest standards of learning and teaching and achieve this by using collaborative learning, challenge and a well-established praise culture to ensure that all children achieve their potential.

We are part of Northern Education Trust, a collaboration of primary and secondary academies across the north of England.  We are Outcomes Focused, Child Centred. If you would like to find out what it is like to be a part of our school family at Northern Education Trust, please come and visit us.  I would be more than happy to give you a tour of our school and introduce you to the people who make The Oak Tree Academy such a special place to learn.

Our children achieve great things both academically and in the wider curriculum throughout the academy.  Learning is exciting and fun so that every day is memorable.  The creative and unique curriculum at The Oak Tree Academy encourages children to ask questions, explore and use independence, collaboration and resilience. We have developed outdoor learning by creating a Woodland area in addition to the many outdoor learning areas we have in our vast grounds. The children are involved in every step of the learning process, from planning and designing to digging and planting right from Nursery.  We are pleased to offer a varied selection of enrichment opportunities.
