Job overview

Full-time, permanent, term time only plus 2 weeks

Parkview Academy is a small independent SEND school in Welling. In our last Ofsted inspection, we were graded as Good, and we are on our journey to becoming an outstanding provision. At Parkview Academy, we inspire our students through providing an alternative, innovative and inclusive curriculum. We care about the individual and pride ourselves on ensuring our school community allows students to feel valued and able to achieve their best.

The post-holder will teach a small group (max. 6) of KS2 students who, for various reasons, do not access the mainstream school environment. It is expected that the teacher will be Nurture Group trained and, as a specialist, will engage with teaching and learning activities and will support tutors and LSAs with the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons on a one-to-one basis and with small groups. You will also track the progress of pupils. You will specialise in primary provision and implement strategies to support behaviour and education. You will be responsible for organising your own learning environment, as well as coordinating other tutors who are delivering primary pupil interventions.

The candidate’s leadership experience will be considered for the Lead Primary Teacher position, or there will be an opportunity for progression to the Lead Primary Teacher position for the right candidate. The Lead Teacher will manage 2–3 primary teachers and tutors and will support the SMT to further develop the primary curriculum.

Candidates must have experience with PECs and/or Makaton.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to train/gain funded qualifications in the following areas:

  • Trauma-informed approach
  • Phonics
  • L3 SEN

Other relevant training options are available linked to the post and the school development plan. Parkview Academy offers all its staff the following wellbeing support:
