Job overview

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic and flexible primary teacher who enjoys working with children across all ages from Reception to Year 6. The candidate will not have ownership of their own class, but will form strong relationships with all pupils in the school by supporting core subject classes and providing floating cover support. It will also be an expectation to sometimes work with children who require interventions or to lead booster groups in preparation for 11+ exams.

We would be particularly keen to speak with individuals interested in leading PE and Sport across the school and developing our current provision through co-ordinating competitive fixtures and introducing innovative new ideas and/or individuals with the ability to teach Spanish.

About the School

The Lyceum School is a growing independent prep school for 130 boys and girls aged 4 to 11. Founded in 1997, the school is well known for its equal emphasis on the arts and academics. The Lyceum provides rigorous pastoral care that places pupils' well-being at the heart of all we do. We provide a topic-based curriculum which allows our teachers to plan creative schemes of work that draw on their own knowledge and passions of the children. Recognising our location in the hub of the city, we have recently launched a STEAM curriculum and we are pioneering education around computing and engineering in the primary setting. Music is also at the heart of our school, with a host of specialist teachers and almost every child playing at least 1 instrument from the age of 4. We celebrate and embrace the diversity, skills and talents of our team and build this into our curriculum. We especially welcome applicants who can bring their own individual interests and qualities to the school.

The Lyceum is part of a larger family of nursery, prep and senior schools called Dukes Education. Dukes Education provides certified CPD opportunities for staff at all levels. Dukes’ vision is to create a family of unique and extraordinary schools who support one another whilst maintaining their own identity.
