Job overview

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher and English Leader to join our team at International Community Schools (ICS) as Primary Teacher and English Leader at ICS will play a pivotal role in nurturing young learners by delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a passion for literacy and language. This role combines teaching responsibilities with leadership in curriculum development, focusing on English as a core subject, and promoting effective teaching practices among staff.

  • Instructional Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in English and other subjects, ensuring all students are challenged and supported according to their individual needs.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Implement the ICS primary curriculum, integrating best practices in pedagogy to enhance students’ literacy skills and overall academic performance.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes respect, enthusiasm, and a love for learning.
  • English Curriculum Development: Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the English curriculum across the primary phase at ICS, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices.
  • Professional Development: Organize and facilitate professional development sessions for teachers on effective English teaching strategies, literacy instruction, and the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Resource Management: Identify and source appropriate resources and materials to support the teaching of English and enhance students' learning experiences.
  • Parental Involvement: Actively engage with parents and guardians to promote literacy initiatives and foster a strong home-school partnership, keeping them informed about their child's progress and ways to support their learning at home.
  • Community Events: Plan and lead events such as literacy weeks, reading challenges, and workshops to encourage community involvement in promoting literacy and celebrating students' achievements.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior, in line with ICS policies and procedures.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports for the Head of Primary regarding the effectiveness of the English curriculum, student progress, and professional development initiatives.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

·      Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a Master’s degree in Education or Literacy is preferred.

·      Certification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.

·      Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in primary education, with a strong focus on teaching English and demonstrated success in raising student achievement.

·      Language Proficiency: Native English speaker or British national, with excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

·      Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting is advantageous, particularly in curriculum development or instructional coaching.
