The British International School of Chicago, South Loop (BISC-SL) is seeking a full-time Primary/Elementary Teacher to join its dynamic staff for our next academic year starting January 2024 (or sooner if possible). The vacancy is in Year 2 (US Grade 1).
BISC-SL is a highly successful school and has established a reputation for excellence in the Chicago market. The contemporary, learning-driven school is located in the South Loop area of Chicago, serving both American and international families. Salary for an ex-pat British trained teacher would be $65,000 per annum (with up to two free child places at the school too).
Job summary
The successful candidate will be offering a world class education to our students using our primary curriculum. A breadth of subject knowledge is required as well as a true passion for teaching. You should foster a love of learning in your students, set ambitious targets and use variety of teaching and learning strategies to ensure the success of all of your students.

Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a degree, a recognised teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative practice to raise achievement.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students.
Required Education, Certifications, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Relevant teaching qualification(s)
- Considerable teaching experience
