Job overview
Are you the right person to join us in our IB World School here in Budapest and help us continue our journey towards excellence as we work towards becoming the first IB continuum school in Hungary? After successful MYP and DP Authorisation processes we are currently in the candidacy phase for the Primary Years Program (PYP) with a timeline which aims to achieve authorisation within the 2024/25 Academic year.
Budapest British International School (BBIS) is seeking an exceptional, innovative educator to join our community. BBIS provides a 'students first' education, where every child is recognised, valued and included. We are guided by the values of the IB and the mission of our founder: academic excellence by achieving more than you think you can.
BBIS' creative, inspiring educators work in a collaborative, student-centred learning environment. You'll be joining a highly supportive team of professional educators in a dynamic environment.
Successful candidates should have knowledge and experience in teaching and coordinating the IB PYP. They must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a recognised teaching qualification and have completed recent IB PYP training. They must demonstrate compatibility with the IB philosophy, coupled with the flexibility and commitment needed to meet the demands of an innovative and expanding school.
Any of the following would provide a candidate with a distinct advantage:
- Existing leadership role within an IB Authorised PYP programme
- IB recognised professional development for PYP at CAT1 , CAT 2 & 3
- Experience of successfully guiding a school through the PYP authorisation process
Tell us how you think you could add value to our school and how you conceptualise the role of a leader. Please use the TES application form to submit your details, along with your letter of application and your CV.
Please contact the school office for any specific information you might require. You are most welcome to speak to our Head of Primary for an informal conversation before making an application by contacting jonathan.spinks@bbis.hu
The shortlisted candidates will be invited to a first-round video interview by Sparkhire, followed by a second-round video interview. BBIS reserves the right to arrange Spark hire/online interviews for suitable candidates before the closing date.

Now in our tenth anniversary year, BBIS celebrates a decade of sustained growth and development. We are proud to be the first and only IB Continuum School in Budapest, authorised to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Our accreditation journey has earned over seventy commendations across five authorisations in four years, a reflection of our culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.
As a candidate school for accreditation with the Middle States Association (MSA), we continue to benchmark ourselves against world-class standards, ensuring that every aspect of our work, from curriculum design and teaching practice to student wellbeing, is rooted in professional reflection and purposeful growth.
Our community brings together more than 400 students from over 30 nations, learning in small classes where every voice is heard and every success is celebrated. From our youngest learners in the Early Years, through the IB Primary Years Programme, to our thoughtful young adults in the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, students experience a seamless educational journey built around inquiry, agency, and academic rigour.
At BBIS, teaching is not simply about covering content; it is about uncovering curiosity. Our internationally experienced and deeply committed teachers nurture intellectual growth and personal character through an approach that connects knowledge with understanding and empathy with action. Guided by the IB Learner Profile, our students grow as principled, balanced, reflective, and caring global citizens, ready to lead with compassion and purpose.
As a professional, you will enjoy your time at BBIS. Ours is a community where colleagues collaborate, support, and challenge one another with kindness and respect. Professional learning is part of daily life, where reflection and shared inquiry are woven into how we teach and how we grow. It is a place where you can refine your skills, be known for who you are, and belong to a team that genuinely cares about both its students and one another.
We believe that education works best when it is a partnership. Our families are at the heart of our community, trusted partners in each child’s learning journey. Together, we create a school culture defined by respect, caring, learning, safety, and resilience, values that shape not only how we learn but who we become.
At BBIS, we are a small school with bold ambitions. We value every relationship, celebrate every success, and believe that learning should change lives for our students, for our community, and for the world.
We look forward to welcoming you to BBIS, where learning truly matters and every child is known, valued, and inspired.
