Job overview

Principal at Thomas Knyvett College (Part of The Howard Partnership Trust)

Do you have the vision to lead Thomas Knyvett College on the next step of its journey?

Thomas Knyvett College is a vibrant, and highly inclusive school in Ashford, Surrey, with 730 students aged 11-16 on roll. The school is part of The Howard Partnership Trust, established in 2011 and comprising of four secondary, six primary and three special schools. We are a values-led organisation and have a firm commitment to providing the best possible education for young people of all abilities and backgrounds, enabling them to flourish and thereby increase their life chances.

At Thomas Knyvett College we put the children at the heart of everything we do, providing a personalised and nurturing experience. Through high-quality teaching and learning we have the highest expectations and aspirations for every member of the school community.

We are looking for an inspirational and collaborative Principal to lead Thomas Knyvett College on the next phase of its journey. To be successful, you’ll be an experienced senior secondary leader with an excellent track record. You’ll have a good understanding of what makes a truly great school, particularly in diverse communities with high levels of deprivation. You will be dedicated to achieving excellence in all aspects of school life and be a strategic thinker who can shape and implement our vision, raising standards of achievement for all as a priority. You’ll need to demonstrate the ability to engage, inspire and prioritise excellent relationships with the school and wider community we are so proud to serve.

There is no pre-determined idea about where you might currently be working – you are likely to be a talented Deputy Headteacher looking for your first Headteacher post, but you could also be a serving Headteacher looking for a new challenge. What is most important is that you are a tenacious and humble leader, with relentlessly high expectations, a passion for inclusive education, and a well-honed talent for inspiring students and staff to give their absolute best. Above all, you will be committed to making a positive difference every day, with a clear focus on driving forward school improvement and opportunities for our students.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch to discuss this exciting role in more detail. In return, we can offer you fantastic support for the next stage in your career and a wealth of development opportunities within The Howard Partnership Trust family. For an informal and confidential conversation, please contact Propelo on 01273 222 877 or visit thpt.our-careers.co.uk for more information on how to apply.

Closing date: 8pm, Thursday 15 February 2024

Interviews: Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 February 2024

The Trust values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

The Howard Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
