Egypt Education Platform (EEP) will be losing one of its greatest assets, Ms Janet Brock. After a remarkable career, leading some of the world’s top schools in Spain, China and Malaysia, Janet will be retiring. Her final endeavour over the past four years has been incredibly successful with the GEMS British International School Madinaty. She is also currently Egypt’s representative for the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME).  

GEMS British International School Madinaty is based in the clean and secure environment of Madinaty City which is located to the east of Cairo - very convenient for Shorouk, Rehab, Nasr City and Heliopolis. 

The British system has been available in Egypt for many years and its traditional, structured and disciplined approach is well-understood by many parents. In recent years the curriculum has been widened to add an international dimension so that children following the curriculum will gain a deeper understanding of other cultures. 

The key features of the National Curriculum of England, which make it suitable for schools outside of the UK remain as always. 

• The curriculum is taught in English 

• There is an emphasis on understanding and questioning as well as just knowing 

• Social skills are an integral part of the curriculum 

• There is regular externally verified testing to give a reliable measure of progress 

• IGCSE and A level examinations at the end of the process are internationally accepted for entry to universities all over the world. 

We are looking to appoint a school Principal from August 2025 that is an outstanding, dynamic and inspiring leader for GEMS BISM.  

The successful candidate will lead the Senior Leadership Team in driving forward the whole school’s strategy, academics and operations. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Consistently instil the school’s mission, vision and core values and ensure their implementation on a daily basis.  
• Monitor and update the 3-year Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP).   
• Maintains a focus on school-wide performance and organisational effectiveness. 
• Facilitate and contribute in the development of processes, procedures, policy, and controls necessary to implement educational programmes and achieve academic excellence. 
• Maintains high expectations for student achievement and organisational effectiveness. 
• Leads problem solving and decision-making processes that create a stronger school and contribute to organisational effectiveness.  
• Shares leadership for the improvement of teaching and learning throughout the school 
• Lead the school’s ventures to maintain and potentially gain well reputed international accreditations. 
• Creates a teaching and learning climate in which students and adults feel safe, respected, and cared for. 
• Assists teachers, students and parents in addressing concerns in positive, non- confrontational ways, which always demonstrates cultural sensitivity. 
• Supports a culture of stability, collegiality, collaboration, respect, and trust. 
• Ensuring that the school growth forecasts and admissions targets are achieved in collaboration with Marketing and Admissions departments. 

The successful applicants will have the following:  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other relevant field with a teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent essential.  
• 10 year’s educational experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role 
• NPQH or other relevant senior leadership qualifications (desirable) 
• Experience leading in an international environment (desirable)
