Job overview

An excellent opportunity for an innovative, commercially minded leader to maintain NISM’s reputation for excellence and innovation and to grow the school further.

The Nexus International School brand was established in 2007 by Taylor’s Schools, with the first campus established in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The Nexus approach has 21st-century learning in mind at every level of the school.

Nexus International School (Malaysia) occupies a purpose-built campus and is well-resourced. It provides high-quality education to more than 600 learners from Early Years to Year 13 through the IPC, IGCSE and IBDP, with an Alternative Pathway for those students who are best served by it. 50% of the learners are Malaysians, and the remainder are expatriates from 37 nationalities. A significant number of families are from government-sponsored organisations, and maintaining links with these organisations is an important part of the Principal’s role. The school has boarding provision for up to 150 learners, and residential life has an important influence on the whole school.

The next Principal will continue to develop Nexus Malaysia as a thriving, forward-thinking learning community and embed the Taylor’s approach to education and the distinctive Nexus International Schools’ blend of innovation and excellence. The ‘Nexus Way’ is learner-focused, with an emphasis on technology to enhance learning and creativity alongside entrepreneurship, the development of critical thinking, and support for learners to understand themselves and the world around them. Nexus Malaysia aims to create students who are confident communicators, collaborators and problem-solvers and are prepared for the challenges of the world they will enter.

Nexus Malaysia is in a good position educationally, as demonstrated by a number of recent awards and accreditations. The school is committed to inclusion as well as excellence and innovation and achieves outstanding learner outcomes. There is a strong focus on student wellbeing and community, as well as on professional and leadership development; the school consistently achieves high approval ratings. The incoming Principal will build on these excellent foundations while sensitively identifying new areas for focus and improvement. The successful candidate will have an excellent track record of leadership of a school, an authentic commitment to the mission, vision and core values of Nexus, a keen interest in innovation and contemporary ideas in education, and the commercial and ambassadorial instincts and excellent communication skills to grow the school to its capacity of 1,000 learners. Experience of boarding will be a distinct advantage.

The position is available from August 2025. We strongly encourage interested candidates to read the candidate information and outline of the role (two documents) on the RSAcademics website.

About Us

Nexus International School Malaysia was established in August 2008 as part of Taylor's Education Group.  Situated on the edge of Kuala Lumpur in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia, our students come from expat, diplomatic and local families.  Our total enrolment of 700 covers Early Years to Year 13  and includes 70 boarders.

In primary, we follow the IPC curriculum and are one of only six schools accredited at Mastering level.  In secondary, our Middle Years curriculum is followed by  IGCSE and IBDP programmes.

We believe that pedagogy is constantly evolving and ensure that the latest teaching and learning methods are incorporated into our curriculum.  As an Apple Distinguished School we use technology in a transformative way to enhance learning.  All learners up to Year 6 have an Ipad and a 1:1 Macbook programme is in place in secondary.  Significant professional learning opportunities tare available to teachers.  We embrace diversity, recognising each student's individual culture as well as that of their host country, Malaysia.
