Job overview
A Gordonstoun education is truly unique. With its rich history, distinctive ethos and beautiful 200-acre woodland campus, the School blends academic achievement with life-changing experiences beyond the classroom, equipping some 500 young people for success as international citizens in a rapidly changing world. Student experience at Gordonstoun is formative and exciting, with activities ranging from sail training around the Hebrides to wilderness expeditions in the nearby mountains, all underpinned by a strong sense of social purpose.
Following Lisa Kerr’s appointment to George Watson’s College, after seven years of exceptional leadership, Gordonstoun’s Board of Governors now seeks an outstanding leader to guide the School into the next exciting phase of its development. This is a stand-out opportunity to shape the bright future of an exceptional organisation at the forefront of Character Education and to lead and inspire an innovative and global educational community.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader with the vision and strategic abilities to leverage the School’s ethos, values and brand and direct the development of Gordonstoun as a pioneering school at the heart of a global education movement. Charismatic and persuasive, the next Principal will possess the authenticity and communication skills required to engage multiple influential stakeholders, nationally and internationally, blending this with a well-developed understanding of the commercial imperatives which will allow the organisation to continue to thrive and grow. A deep personal alignment with Gordonstoun’s values and founding Hahnian principles is essential.
