Role overview:
The Programme Delivery team delivers Tes Institute’s Teacher Training, Teacher Assistant Training and Professional Development programmes across the UK and internationally, both online and in-person.
The Programme Delivery Manager role has operational responsibility for programme intent and implementation, The role reports to the Head of Programme Delivery for a specific programme, working alongside the central Academic Services and wider Tes team.
You will have a strong understanding of the variety of training and development routes into and within teaching and provide expertise in your assigned programme to manage cohorts and deliver a programme that provides the best experience for our learners. Led by a Head of Programme Delivery, and supported by the Central Academic Services team, you will work collaboratively with your fellow Managers and Heads of Programme Delivery, to meet programme requirements within and across Institute.
You will advocate Tes’ organisational values, model high expectations in the quality of teacher training, and continue to develop academic delivery within your assigned programme. You will provide a strong level of expertise in your programme, ensuring management and accountability, so that learners have the right resources to ensure effective learner progress, passion for life–long learning and career development, with the skills to positively influence our community and society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the operational delivery of outstanding teacher training and development education for your assigned programme. You may be required to work across programmes where learner volume requires.
- Responsibility for secure and consistent delivery of the programme in every context and setting.
- Work alongside the central Academic Services team to apply their expertise and embed through your programme’s delivery.
- Collaborate with the central Academic Services to enable strong programme implementation.
- Work closely and collaborate with wider Tes functions to ensure strong operational and compliant delivery at all stages and that activity is optimised.
- Support Sales and Marketing activity as directed by the Head of Programme Delivery.
- Report to the Head of Programme Delivery ensuring that your programme’s outcomes meet expectations in retention and engagement.
Monitoring of Learner Progress
- Monitoring learner engagement with Tes Learn and quality of their performance and submissions, as directed by the Head of Programme Delivery.
- Delivering training for learners through remote and face to face training, as directed by the Head of Programme Delivery.
- Provide appropriate training and intervention to support learner development, supporting escalation procedure through the management of Focussed Support Plans, drop-in support, progress monitoring plans as required by programme.
- Focused Support Plans.
- For postgraduate programmes, coordinate and undertake marking and standardisation of assignments, including final dissertations, in collaboration with the academic team.
- Work collaboratively to quality assure and provide all end of course evidence to all external bodies, such as UEL, DfE, EPA providers.
- Support the Head of Programme Delivery the management and application of the cause-for-concern process.
Quality Assurance
- Contribute to Tes Institute’s cycle of evaluation, improvement and programme development.
- Where relevant, support the programme’s requirements for governance, meeting statutory duties, preparation for inspection and reporting to outside bodies.
Pathway Tutors
- Support the annual recruitment, training, and onboarding cycle for Pathway Tutors.
- Quality assurance activities including making joint visits (virtual and face-to-face) with Pathway Tutors.
- Allocate Pathway Tutors and manage delivery of appropriate services in alignment with the needs of the programme.
- Monitor Pathway Tutor activity on our virtual learning environment (TES Learn) to ensure that tutors are challenging, supporting, and monitoring student progress effectively.
- Assessing Pathway Tutor performance against a set of performance criteria and providing appropriate support and training to ensure high-quality programme implementation.
- Reporting to Head of Programme Delivery on Pathway Tutor progress and QA activity to inform self-evaluation and improvement plans.
What will you need to succeed?
- Experience of successfully delivering teacher training and development programmes and policy delivery.
- An understanding of ongoing developments in teacher training education, notably Apprenticeships, ITTECF reform where appropriate, and the changing landscape of international teacher training needs.
- An understanding of routes into teaching and professional development beyond initial teacher training.
- Experience of team leadership.
- Prior experience of external inspection by regulatory bodies such as Ofsted. (Required).
- Proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
- Teaching qualification (QTS) or equivalent.
- For programmes resulting in postgraduate certification (MA, iPGCE, PGCE), an MA or PhD qualification is required.
- Experience of management of educational programme delivery via a blended method.
- People focused with high emotional intelligence.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Experience as a Tes Pathway Tutor (Desirable).
- Experience of Senior leadership (Desirable).
- NPQLTD, NPQH, NPQEL or appropriate Masters or PhD qualification (Desirable).
