Role Overview

The Teacher of Psychology will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in AQA GCSE Psychology and Cambridge A-level Psychology. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of psychology concepts, effective teaching methodologies, and a commitment to student success. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the social studies curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary learning.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in AQA GCSE Psychology and Cambridge A-level Psychology, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the psychology curriculum and resources, including innovative teaching materials and assessment methods.
  • Student Support: Provide academic guidance and support to students, fostering a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Assessment: Design and implement formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and tracking their progress.
  • Interdisciplinary Teaching: Contribute to the social studies curriculum, integrating psychological principles to enhance students' understanding of societal issues.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices and developments in psychology.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Humanities department and participate in departmental meetings, contributing to a cohesive team environment.


 

Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in Psychology or a related field is required; a postgraduate qualification in education is preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching AQA GCSE Psychology and Cambridge A-level Psychology; familiarity with social studies curriculum is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Proficient in using educational technology and resources.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of psychological theories, research methods, and contemporary issues in psychology and social studies.
