About the School

Falkland House School is an in independent residential and day school for boys from primary to aged 18 years. Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs Primarily Autistic Spectrum Condition. We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society. All our pupils are able to access a mainstream curriculum, but not in a mainstream environment.

We are one of Scotland’s top providers of education for boys with additional support needs such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health diagnosis, ADHD and Tourette’s Syndrome, as well as a number of other conditions.

About the Role

As a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA), you will work as part of an education team supporting pupils and young people who have additional support needs to access learning under the direction of other members of the team.

Pupils and Young People can have a range of needs that are short lived or more long term, requiring them to need additional support. The PSA role is varied and may include supporting pupils and young people who present with needs which may include:

  • Social and Emotional
  • Learning
  • Communication
  • Physical

Some pupils may present with distressed and challenging behaviour as a result of these needs The PSA may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in the development of pupils and their wellbeing.
  • Kindness, Empathy, patience and an ability to engage with pupils and young people.
  • Confidentiality in relation to pupils, young people and their families.
  • Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting pupils and young people with additional support needs.

Falkland House School is an in independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

We provide residential and day places to boys from early primary to aged 18, with residential placements of both 39 weeks and 52 weeks offered. The school has a well-established reputation for excellence in the quality of its service provision and for achieving positive educational and socially inclusive outcomes.
