Actual:  £21,419 - £22,285 depending on experience

Hours: 37 hours per week (term time plus two training days)

Working Pattern: Monday – Thursday 8.15am – 4.15pm, Friday 8.15am – 3.45pm

Cromwell Community College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pupil Support Officer to join our team. This pivotal role involves delivering exceptional pastoral care to support our pupils' emotional and academic needs, ensuring their well-being and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils’ well-being and behaviour, addressing attendance and pastoral needs.
  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies to support vulnerable pupils.
  • Record and address incidents while promoting a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Assist with admissions, events, and maintaining accurate intervention records.


We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Empathetic and understanding of pupils’ needs.
  • A strong communicator with excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and external partners.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Cromwell Community College is a co-educational secondary school located in the market town of Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. It educates around 1,100 pupils aged 11-18. The school became a comprehensive in 1969 and converted to academy status in 2012. 

Over the years, Cromwell Community College has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation, with the most recent project completed in 2012. The school has its own sixth form, with dedicated facilities and study areas for post-16 students.

Pupils enjoy a wide choice of subjects suited to their abilities and interests. The most able pupils are steered towards three sciences, humanities and foreign languages to enable more of them to gain the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) qualification. A small proportion of less-able pupils follow a curriculum matched to their needs and abilities in order to develop their literacy and numeracy, promote their social skills and study qualifications suited to the workplace.”
