Job Description

The PYP Coordinator will be responsible in leading the team in the execution of professional duties and responsibilities to meet the following:

Curriculum and Documentation

  • Ensure that publications pertaining to the PYP section of the school are available to all staff members
  • Establish and review the school’s Programme of Inquiry and curriculum scope and sequence documents
  • Manage and maintain archives of all PYP planning documents as well as evidence of the PYP Exhibition
  • Participate in the formation of the school‘s action plan
  • Planning, delivering and assessment of the curriculum
  • Participate in curriculum planning, delivery, assessment and review
  • Ensure that all the curriculum requirements by ECDA, SPARK and IBO are being adhered to


Teaching Quality

  • Ensure that processes are in place to monitor the quality of teaching delivered by the teaching staff
  • Ensure that professional development is planned for all teaching staff
  • Monitor and review teaching and learning standards
  • Maintain a system of teacher performance appraisal
  • Ensure that all policies connected to pedagogy are being adhered to


Staff Management

  • To support the Principal on daily operations and staffing matters, within reason
  • To assume overall responsibility for daily operations and staffing in the absence of the Principal


Curriculum Resource Management

  • Suggest suitable resources to support the implementation of programmes to the Principal
  • Be responsible for an inventory of resources and facilitate efficient management


Professional Development

  • Ensure all staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities and make recommendations regarding professional development opportunities on and off campus
  • Support the teachers by facilitating visits to other educational establishments in Singapore as part of their professional development
  • To develop and support teachers in curriculum matters through a mentoring programme
  • Help to facilitate and plan for the schools induction programme, professional development, workshops, curriculum meetings
  • Set up systems for communication and collaboration between all staff members
  • Offer informal and formal pedagogical support/mentorship/guidance to colleagues


Communication

  • Liaise with all necessary stakeholders such as ECDA, SPARK and IBO on all matters pertaining to the school’s curriculum
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders regarding IB and curriculum matters (including the head of pedagogy)
  • Set up systems for communication and collaboration between all staff members
  • Conduct parent information sessions
  • Publish articles pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter
  • Circulate all relevant curriculum information received from ECDA, SPARK and IBO
  • Prepare and submit any curriculum documentation required for authorization and evaluation
  • Contribute information pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter when required
  • Circulate all relevant information received
  • Prepare and submit any documentation required for meeting curriculum/ teaching and learning standards
  • Provide outreach to the wider community through discussion forums, e-mail and school visits


Positive School Ethos

  • Maintain a positive school ethos
  • Formulate the overall aims and objectives of the school following the ethos of EtonHouse Schools and develop policies for their implementation
  • Support the leadership team to maintain discipline, based on positive reinforcement and EtonHouse philosophy


Compliance and Health and Safety

  • Support the Principal and leadership team to ensure compliance with the requirements of licensing and accreditation authorities
  • Work with licensing and accreditation authorities to ensure that the school meets the required standards together with the Principal
  • Be familiar with and implement the school’s health and safety policy
  • Support the Principal and leadership team to ensure that health and safety policies and practices, including risk assessments, are in-line with national requirements and updated where necessary


Key Relationships

  • Work closely with respective HQ departments such as Operations, Quality Assurance and Marketing team to support the various functions
  • Develop policies and practices that promote students as co-researchers and co-constructors of learning.
  • To work closely with the Principal to recruit, retain and develop high calibre staff to ensure that education in the Preschool is delivered to a high standard
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with parents, demonstrating a detailed understanding of the needs of the community
  • Lead and motivate teachers to ensure effective working relationships are maintained
  • Stive to improve the quality of education provided and ensure that our teaching standards are maximised
  • Be a role model who creates and fosters good working relationships with all members of the school community


General

  • Be an excellent teacher with a passion for Preschool education
  • Be a visible presence across the school for children, staff and parents
  • Maintaining a quality school image in the community and representing EtonHouse in the wider community
  • Participate in co-curriculum activities across the school at a level to be decided on with the Principal
  • Together with the school leadership team, create and support a culture of safeguarding and child protection, reinforcing the key schoolwide focus on keeping children safe
  • Lead by example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
  • Have regard to health and safety across the school in all aspects of work, in line with the school’s health and safety policy
  • Other reasonable ad-hoc duties as assigned
