The Camden Sensory Service for Children and Young People (CYP) is a well-established and highly effective specialist teaching team within the Camden SEN and Inclusion Service. Our Service plays a crucial role in supporting and delivering the Local Authority’s statutory duties and provision whilst promoting equal access to all learning for CYP with Visual Impairment (VI) / Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI). We are looking to appoint a highly experienced, committed, and enthusiastic Qualified Teacher of Visual Impairment (QTVI) / Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI) to join a developing team. If you are looking to making a positive impact on the lives of CYP with VI / MSI, then this is the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of specialist support to CYP with VI / MSI aged 0 - 25 years and their families in homes, early years settings, mainstream and special schools, and Post 16 provisions. You will assist in carrying out our statutory duties in respect of the identification, assessment, and intervention for all CYP diagnosed with VI / MSI and working in conjunction with the rehabilitation Officer and Adult Rehabilitation Service, ensuring appropriate support is available to CYP and their families.

You will need to evidence an understanding of the importance of parental involvement in the education of CYP with VI / MSI. You will provide comprehensive, impartial information, taking into account families' cultural and social background, to empower families in making decisions about options available to them. You will be responsible for and to build capacity of educational settings staff to support the best outcomes and achievement of CYP with VI / MSI.

It is essential that an excellent service is delivered to CYP with VI/MSI, providing specialist teaching, advice, and support to an individual caseload of CYP with VI/MSI. Working in partnership with CYP, families, educational settings, and professionals to raise achievement, promote inclusion, ensure social and emotional wellbeing, and increase access to learning.
