The successful candidate will be based at Brondesbury College which is in the London borough of Brent. You will be teaching years 7-11 and will be encouraged to deliver extracurricular activities. Enthusiasm in the subject, overall teaching expertise and professionalism are vital so as to inspire the students’ thirst for learning. It is essential that the school’s Islamic ethos is kept in mind to ensure maintenance of the positive teaching and learning environment, all of which is guided by the ethical and moral teachings of the faith.

About the Role:

As a Quran Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching students in Years 7–11 how to read, understand, and memorize the Quran. This includes delivering engaging lessons in Tajweed (rules of Quranic recitation) and supporting students’ personal and spiritual growth through extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Quranic recitation (Tajweed) and memorization (Hifz) to students at varying levels of proficiency.

• Develop and implement tailored lesson plans to address each student’s needs and abilities.

• Regularly assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback.

• Create a respectful and positive learning environment that fosters engagement and enthusiasm.

• Organize and lead Quranic study sessions and related extracurricular activities.

• Promote Islamic values and encourage the application of Quranic teachings in daily life.

• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.

• Attendance to after school Parents Evenings to provide feedback to parents

• Regular reminders to students and staff after Zuhr salaah

• Occasional deliverance of the Jumuah Khutbah.

Qualifications and Skills:

 • A deep understanding of the Quran, with strong proficiency in Tajweed and Hifz. Preferably a Hafiz Quran or at least most of it.

• Excellent communication and teaching skills.

• Prior experience teaching the Quran (preferred but not essential).

• Familiarity with Islamic traditions, values, and practices.

• Patience, dedication, and a passion for Islamic education.

• Fluency in Arabic (preferred).

• Relevant certifications or qualifications in Islamic studies or education (a plus).

Islamia Girls’ School is a semi-selective, Muslim secondary school without sixth form, situated in Queen's Park, north-west London. The girls' school is independent and, along with the boys' secondary school, Brondesbury College, is part of Islamia Schools Ltd, a subsidiary of the Yusuf Islam Foundation. Islamia Girls’ School provides up to 160 places for secondary students between the ages of 11 and 16.

The school was founded by Yusuf Islam (formerly known as singer-songwriter Cat Stevens) in 1989 to provide a well-rounded Islamic education whilst also following the National Curriculum.
