Reading Volunteers - Primary
Hours: As and when required between the school hours - 08.00am - 3.15pm

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and conscientious volunteers to work in our Primary Phase. At Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, we highly value the contribution that our volunteers can make to our children's learning and reading experiences throughout the academic year.
The role involves:
- Helping children to choose new books
- Talk to children about the books they have read and encourage them to share their views and ideas
- Asking a range of questions to help children develop a deeper understanding of the text
- Make reading fun by getting to know your reader’s interests
- Give children one to one attention and be a positive role model
- Help children feel successful by giving positive feedback and support
- Be creative with teaching and learning strategies, adopting your approach for different pupils
- Completing reading records and logs
- Supporting other basic library jobs during quieter periods, e.g. shelving or tidying books

At our Multi Academy Trust (MAT) incorporating Guru Nanak Sikh Academy (GNSA) and Nanaksar Primary School (NPS), we champion the core values of the Sikh community while also warmly embracing our shared British heritage.
