Job overview

The school is seeking to appoint a keen and enthusiastic worker to supervise the reflection room between the hours of 8am to 4pm. This key appointment will be temporary for one year in the first instance with the expectation that it will become a permanent role. This is a varied and rewarding role for the right candidate. The post is attached to a 40-week contract.

If you are the successful candidate, you will have strong behaviour management skills and interpersonal skills, and you will be a good team player. You will coordinate the work that students complete on MS Teams and work with them one-to-one and in small groups, mentoring key students to support and improve their behaviour. Working as a member of the pastoral team, you will be required to give regular feedback, including weekly data, on the work in the reflection room.

You will have experience of working in a secondary school and will be proficient in the use of MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. A teaching or relevant SEN / inclusion qualification would be an advantage.

You will be joining an established team, dedicated to meeting the needs of certain students who might otherwise fail to engage with education. As a result of tailored and collaborative interventions, we know these students can thrive. You will play an important part in raising their levels of achievement, helping them to become intrinsically motivated to succeed and adopt a positive stance towards their education.

Working at Greig City Academy

Our school is unique. It is a diverse, vibrant and supportive community where staff and students thrive on innovation, collaboration and a shared commitment to success. Staff go the extra mile to support students and the outcomes are often extraordinary.

Our successful and oversubscribed Academy is a caring and creative environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and gain the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. We want happy and successful children ready for their future.

Paul Sutton, our inspirational Principal, has built a strong and dedicated team of well-qualified staff who share a common vision to raise students’ achievement.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a collegiate approach with a focus on their own contribution to our collective vision. Students and staff work together with enthusiasm and commitment often over and beyond the school day.

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; staff turnover is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

We have an array of wellbeing initiatives such as a weekly yoga session, Staff Art Club, regular visits from a qualified massage therapist and social events throughout the year, to name but a few.
