This is an exciting opportunity to join the Humanities Faculty within an outstanding Secondary School. The successful candidate will be committed to planning and delivering a high quality, interesting curriculum, which will challenge and inspire all our students.

The Humanities Faculty at Tomlinscote is a successful and supportive faculty, which is comprised of History, Geography, Religious Studies, Sociology and Psychology departments. Humanities at Tomlinscote is a successful area both in terms of exam success and in terms of the thinking skills that the subjects work hard to develop. Opportunities for international collaborations and visits abroad are available. The Humanities teachers are a team of friendly and supportive members of the school staff who work hard to ensure that all learners and colleagues are able to work to their full potential. The team is passionate about providing an engaging curriculum that allows students to access a greater understanding of how our society and world has developed. The Religious Studies Department is committed to developing young people who will be active, reflective and principled citizens in our multicultural world. As a Religious Studies Teacher, you will have the ability to deliver inspiring lessons, be part of creating an exceptional place of learning and help build on the excellent current standards in the school.

The successful applicant will also be required to teach GCSE Sociology.

We are looking for a teacher who displays the following characteristics:

  • Excellent ICT skills that make learning visible in the classroom.

Any applicant should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree to be considered for this post.

Applications from Early Career Teachers are warmly received. The School offers an excellent ECT induction programme and has a proven record of developing outstanding teachers, many of whom have continued their career development into year leader roles within our setting. As an ECT, you would join our ECT induction programme, supported by all our staff, and a dedicated mentor. Our ECT programme provides the bridge between Initial Teacher Training and a successful teaching career.
