We are currently seeking a resident matron. The role available is fixed term for the spring and summer terms of this academic year - from 5 January to 12 July 2024. We would also welcome applications from candidates unable to join in January but able to join from February half term (18 February 2024).
The role of resident matron is an important one, both in the boarding community and in the school as a whole. The resident matron may be one of the first members of staff that a parent meets who will be caring for their daughter. The housemistress/master and resident matron act in loco parentis, especially when parents are abroad or live a distance from the school. Responsibilities range widely and can be unpredictable.

St Swithun’s Senior School is an independent, Church of England, 11-18, day and boarding girls’ school, situated in Winchester in Hampshire. The school, which has approximately 520 girls on its roll, is a registered charity and is governed by the school council.
In 1884, seventeen pupils began attending Winchester High School. The pupil population then grew to over 60 and the school began to take day pupils and boarders. Its name was changed to Winchester Girls’ School in 1909 and then, after World War I, to St Swithun’s School.
