Our pupils are amazing, and they deserve amazing support staff! An opportunity has arisen for a School Administration Assistant to join the team at Mill School, Bury supporting colleagues, pupils, parents/carers and other partners with all aspects of school office administration and support.

About you:

As a school administration assistant you will always put our pupils at the centre of your work, supporting them to thrive in the school environment so that they develop the skills needed for life.

Above all, you will have a commitment to safeguarding and supporting the development of children with special educational needs to ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes.

Start date 3 September 2024 start – 16 hours per week.

(must be available to work 2 days per week Thursdays and Fridays term time only)

Working hours: 8.00 pm – 16.00 pm

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • welcoming all visitors to the school, signing them into the building and issuing visitor passes, completing the school Single Central Record (SCR) in accordance with school regulations.
  • Responsible for receiving phone calls, answering queries and passing messages on to the relevant person. Supporting SLT with chasing up student attendance.
  • To assist with the ordering of stationery, school stock alongside another administrative assistant.
  • To assist with the processing of petty cash
  • To work with the Business Manager to assist with sickness, payroll and recruitment processes within the school office as and when required.
  • To be responsible alongside the other administrative assistant within the School for the Training Matrix, to ensure all school accreditations are up to date.
  • At the end of the week to complete a hand over for the other admin assistant who works the beginning of the week

We are specifically looking for someone who meets the following criteria: -

Essential

  • The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to use the following packages to a high standard- Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
  • Excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills
  • Has the ability to work under pressure and to multi-task whilst maintaining a professional approach
  • Has the ability to work with different stakeholders such as pupils, parents, governors, teaching and nonteaching staff
  • Is committed to supporting the school vision, mission and values
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach according to the needs of the school
  • Must be a team player

Desirable

  • To have previously worked in a busy school environment
  • To have an understanding of the pupil information system ARBOR training will be given if required
