Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an Attendance Officer to join our enthusiastic and professional team, working alongside key pastoral staff, Heads of Year and Heads of Key Stages to reduce levels of unauthorised and persistent absence, promote whole school attendance strategies and to work with students and families to improve levels of attendance. A special focus of this work will be to support the Academy Leadership in their strategic objective to improve the attendance of disadvantaged students and those with SEND.

In addition, the Attendance Officer will analyse attendance data in order to inform key members of the team of any emerging patterns and trends which could be a cause for concern. The Attendance Officer will also be accountable for developing systems that will enable students to improve attendance and reduce absence, in order to improve their outcomes and to achieve Academy targets. About King Alfred's Academy

King Alfred’s Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Wantage, Oxfordshire. It is an academy converter supported by Vale Academy Trust, a South Oxfordshire multi-academy trust that supports eight other schools in the area.

A larger than average secondary school, King Alfred’s provides 2,205 places for students between the ages of 11 and 18 when fully subscribed. Current number on roll is 1700. The school converted to academy status in August 2011.
