Job overview

Please use the CES application form supplied, thank you.

You are applying to join the school at the most exciting and innovative point in its 60 year history. On 1st January 2023 the school became part of the Pope Francis Multi-Academy Trust and academised with a new name, The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco.

The school has recently been nominated as one of only 60 schools to receive funding from the DfE Building Schools Programme of £1 billion to totally redevelop the school site. By 2026 the school will have been completely re-built and be the most modern and up-to-date educational facility in the whole of Merseyside and beyond.

The post of Business Manager is instrumental to the planning and implementation of this new school and you will have a role to play in how the site is developed. We are a small but rapidly growing school with a planned number on roll that will not exceed 600 pupils.

The Academy has also brought together a number of highly experienced colleagues who have the vision and expertise to ensure the school becomes outstanding in many key areas by the time the modernisation is complete.

Our young people and staff are our greatest assets and we heavily invest in both. The school has faced a number of challenges in recent years but has come through stronger, more focused and determined. As a member of staff you will be fully supported in developing your role with opportunities for further professional development and enhancement. You would have a key role to play in shaping the future direction of the school. You will be fully supported, if successfully appointed, by an experienced team of Governing Board members, an experienced CEO and an ambitious Multi-Academy Trust.

There is a new ambition for The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco, driven by the strong partnership that exists between Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust and the Salesians. This ambition, alongside the build of a new school in 2025, will provide an exciting environment where pupils and staff alike to develop their many talents and pursue academic and personal excellence.

If you are confident that you have the qualities, skills and experience we are looking for, as well as the enthusiasm, knowledge and resilience to shape the future of our school, I look forward to receiving your application.

About The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco

The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco in Bootle is a Catholic school that has a long and proud history serving the local community. Up until last year the school was called Savio Salesian Academy and its future was uncertain as the school was faced with Inadequate Ofsted judgements, low outcomes, falling rolls and a building that was not fit for purpose. This has now changed. The school is having a multi-million pound investment from the DFE and pupils will move into a brand new school in 2025, the number on roll is increasing (20% growth in the last year) and the school is part of the Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust. The future is exciting and the vision is one which is transformative; our academy serves an area of high social deprivation and we want our school to have the highest aspirations and outcomes not only as a beacon of excellence for our pupils but also as a hub at the heart of our community.

Whilst the academy is now part of the Pope Francis Catholic MAT we very much value the heritage and individuality of each school. The school is inspired by the teachings of St John Bosco, an Italian priest and educator who believed in the importance of education, hard work and a positive attitude in helping young people to reach their full potential.

The school's vision is to create a learning environment that is rooted in the Catholic faith and values, and that promotes a culture of excellence, respect and service. The school aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed in life, both academically and personally.  At the same time we encourage respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness, and compassion. The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco in Bootle is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their background or abilities. The school works closely with families and the wider community to ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
