Job Description/Profile

 

Scope: Student Support

 

Reporting to: Head of School / Chairman


Person Profile

 This is not a traditional Whole School counsellor role. A key competency is to be a collaborative team member and value the collective ability of teams rather than traditional hierarchies. The other main focus is on nurturing Student’s growth. The person appointed will play a key role in setting all aspects of Student support programme. He/she should possess excellent experience/potential and communication skills and should have a diverse range of qualities and competencies. The successful candidate will also play a major role in Students and staff wellbeing.

 The Whole school counsellor should be a caring, inspirational, passionate, adaptable, creative and innovative member of staff. He/She should be an outstanding motivator, learner and communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills, and should be capable of being an effective member of the school start-up and supporting the school community through a caring, stimulating, and well-organised environment.

 

Knowledge and Skills. He/She should:

 

1.1 To be aligned with Kent College West Cairo, core values and beliefs.

1.2 Plan, develop and manage the overall school counselling strategy.

1.3 Develop a competent counselling program.

1.4 possess excellent communication, time management and collaborative skills

1.5 have a record of achievement similar positon , preferably with experience of the international education environment

1.6 be able to provide support and guidance for members of Kent College West community

1.7 Have experience of implementing major new projects and leading collaborative is a startup context.

1.8 Be innovative and creative in applying current research in guidance and counseling services to students and their families.

1.9 have extensive experience of international Counseling approaches and be innovative and creative in applying them in practice

1.10 Have an excellent command of spoken and written English (strong ability in Arabic would

also be a great asset)


2.  Responsibilities. He/She will be responsible for:

 2.1 Assist students in understanding and overcoming social, behavioral or academic problems

2.2 Provide group or individual counselling to address the needs of students.

2.3 Monitor and observe students to identify and address personal, emotional or social issues

2.4 Refer students to health psychologists and other mental professionals for proper attention

2.5 Consult with families and staff to highlight students’ needs and discuss strategies necessary

for improved social and academic performance

2.6 Plan  and  organize  classroom  counselling  sessions  to  address  career,  academic,  and personal development issues among students

2.7 Develop and implement school counselling programs effective in meeting students’ needs

2.8 Conduct student assessment and maintain records of test results

2.9 Implement programs for students with special needs or learning disabilities

2.10 Listen to students’ concerns and offer recommendations effective in addressing academic

or psychological problems

2.11 Guide and support school staff in implementing school advisory programs

2.12 Employ responsive counselling in establishing positive relationship between School School counsellor s, parents, and students.

2.13 Organise Seminars to educate students / parents on sensitive topics such as peer pressure,bullying, inclusion.
