School Counsellor (August 2024 start)

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park are currently recruiting for a highly qualified and experienced School Counsellor.

Due to continued expansion and growth, Dubai British School Jumeirah Park are seeking a School Counsellor to join our thriving school, set in the heart of the Jumeirah Park community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaboration with educators, parents, and students to create a nurturing and supportive school environment
• Facilitation of individual and group counselling sessions to address students personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Identification of mental health concerns, providing assessments and referrals when necessary
• Delivery of informative workshops on a variety of topics, such as study skills, stress management, positive emotional health, and conflict resolution
• Promotion of preventative programs to promote a positive and inclusive school community
• Maintenance of accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and interventions

Requirements:  

• A high-quality degree in psychology/counselling/education
• At least two years’ school-based experience or previous experience working with schools and students in a counselling capacity.
• A commitment to the wellbeing of all students within their care 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy and cultural sensitivity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of counselling ethics, crisis intervention, and mental health support.
• Collaborative mindset to work effectively with educators, parents, and students.
• Enthusiasm for helping students achieve academic and personal success
• A willingness to make a broader contribution to school life 
• The drive to continue to develop professionally through bespoke, high quality CPD programmes
• The ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced international, multicultural, and demanding environment
