School Engagement Managers, Royal Opera House Bridge

£20,991.00 per annum, part-time (3 days (24 hours) per week)

(Equivalent to £34,985.00 per annum full-time)

Fixed-term contract to March 2022

Two positions:

School Engagement Manager for Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton

School Engagement Manager for Greater Essex

The Royal Opera House is part of Arts Council England’s network of ‘Bridge’ Organisations, providing a bridge between the arts and education sectors, and supporting the goal of enabling every child and young person to have the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts, museums and libraries. The Royal Opera House Bridge operates across the East of England, stretching from Bedfordshire to North Kent.

ROH Bridge acts as a broker to galvanize and facilitate the building of sustainable cultural partnerships by co-investing in strategic activity that helps build infrastructure and sustain cultural learning opportunities over time. We measure our success through the increased number of children and young people who are engaging with creative and cultural learning experiences both in and out of school.

We are now seeking two dynamic individuals to join us as School Engagement Managers, overseeing our regional strategy for encouraging schools to engage with the arts and cultural learning in a particular sub-area of the geographical region we serve – one covering Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton, and the other Greater Essex.

The roles will manage our key work involving schools - including leading on ‘Artsmark’, encouraging schools and school leaders to champion cultural learning, and providing general advocacy for cultural entitlement and progression in cultural learning.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • First-hand knowledge of the formal education sector, including a deep understanding of how cultural learning can contribute to school improvement.
  • Working knowledge of the refreshed Artsmark programme.
  • A strong track record in managing relationships with a range of partners (including schools and cultural partners) and colleagues (including freelancers and internal staff).
  • High level project planning and management skills including the ability to keep to a budget and achieve project objectives.
  • Evidence of strategic thinking and planning in a related field.

Knowledge of the region covered by the Royal Opera House Bridge, and in particular the sub-region where you would be working, would be beneficial but is not essential.

While the office base will be at the High House Production Park in Purfleet, much of the day-to-day work will be in the specific Bridge region, with some work at Covent Garden. There will be scope for some home working when working in the field.

A full job description and information on how to apply for this position are available on our website http://recruitment.roh.org.uk/vacancyView.php?requirementId=2928. Contact the Human Resources Department on hr.recruitment@roh.org.uk or 02072129631 if you have any access requirements or queries.

We actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and value the positive impact that difference has on our teams. We are committed to considering requests for flexible work patterns.

Closing date for the receipt of applications: 8.00 am, 22nd January 2018.

Interviews will be held in Covent Garden on 2nd February 2018.

Please specify if you wish to be considered for one or both roles. You only need to submit one application if you are interested in both roles.

Applicants must have work authorization for the UK.
