About The Brooksbank School
CHARACTER BUILDING SINCE 1712
The Brooksbank School has a long and proud history serving the community of Elland. 1700 students make it the second largest comprehensive high school in Calderdale and one of very few to have maintained its own sixth form centre.
Brooksbank is a school that is absolutely committed to exceptional academic achievement: ranking highly amongst the top of non-selective schools in Calderdale. We are also a school which understands that true accomplishment lies beyond this success, and that dedication to the arts, sport, media and community will shape our students to become our future leaders.
2022 began a new chapter in The Brooksbank School’s journey as we joined Together Learning Trust. This is an exciting time to join a committed and supportive staff team, dedicated to school improvement and providing an excellent education for every student, every day. Just like our students, you’ll find opportunities here to shine and represent the #spiritofbbs.
Location:
Brooksbank is set in a stunning Calderdale location with beautiful green fields and open countryside, and just two minutes from Junction 24 of the M62 motorway to Leeds and Manchester. It also boasts easy access to urban culture and excitement in Halifax and Sowerby Bridge and is a ten-mile drive away from hotspot Hebden Bridge. It’s a great place to live and provides many opportunities for students.
Did you know:
- Sporting success is in Brooksbank’s DNA. It teaches us the value of teamwork, determination and perseverance. We have fantastic facilities, including a FIFA-grade all-weather 3G sports field and a picturesque cycle track set in its own grounds.
- Brooksbank celebrated one hundred years of teaching and learning in 2011. However, our school was founded 300 years earlier by its generous namesake, Joseph Brooksbank. The successful London haberdasher remembered his roots when he provided education for forty children in Elland. This philanthropy provided Brooksbank with firm foundations, and a legacy that still inspires as we provide our students with exceptional learning and growth opportunities in numerous dynamic and progressive teaching and enrichment spaces.
