We are based at a well-equipped and spacious site in Calne, North Wiltshire. We are Ofsted rated 'Good' (March 2022) and hold Advanced Accreditation with The National Autistic Society (June 2022). Over 95% of our current cohort have a diagnosis of Autism. All students have the potential to access a primary/secondary curriculum and we support them to do so.

Our Governors provide support and challenge with three key areas:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction, helping us achieve our aim of becoming a system and centre of excellence for autism in the South West.
  2. Holding leaders accountable for educational outcomes and provision.
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring resources are well-utilised.

As a Governor, you will:

  • Govern on behalf of the RSAT Trust Board at a local level.
  • Collaborate with the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support, challenge, and champion school initiatives.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and provide constructive feedback to enhance school performance.
  • Engage with parents and the community to champion the academy and foster positive relationships.
  • Feel part of a vibrant and inclusive school with a strong moral imperative.

About The Springfields Academy

The Springfields Academy aims to be the leading school for autistic learners within the South West.

This is an exciting time to join Springfields as we grow from 210 young people on roll to 250 in September 2024. Coinciding with this is the launch of a brand new classroom block, ensuring our learners and staff have access to the resources they need.

Our mission is to build safe, independent lives for our young people. We are an acknowledged centre of excellence for Autism; we are highly reflective in our practices, and are continually working to improve our provision and practices. We provide a personalised curriculum journey that enables leaners with a diagnosis of autism to develop skills in areas of need and to overcome their barriers to learning. The drive to build ‘safe independent lives’ shapes this curriculum and everything else that we do.

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. We operate 17 academies in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Gloucester, Dorset and Wiltshire. We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles. At the heart of those values and principles is a belief in our young people and a determination to support them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become the successful citizens for today and all of their tomorrows.

Our core business is delivering exceptional education for children and young people with a mission to help all pupils aspire to achieve beyond the expectations that others put on them. We do this through the development of a talented and committed workforce. In order to deliver exceptional opportunities for learning, we need highly motivated staff across all parts of the organisation.

Teachers within Reach South belong to a national community of professionals, and benefit from a wide range of networks and development opportunities across the Trust. In time, our best teachers are able to work across schools, develop specialisms and step up to leadership roles within and beyond their own academy. The Trust provides a strong culture of collaboration and support, together with high expectations for staff and pupils alike.

Those we recruit are able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated to work with colleagues, within and beyond their school, to continuously develop their skills and pursue professional excellence.
