Job overview
School Improvement Lead (Primary)
Prenton, Wirral
L24-29, £78,010 - £88,170
Oak Trees Multi Academy Trust was formed in June 2017, when a group of Wirral schools formalised their long-standing collaborative working relationship. From the outset, we’ve been wholly focused on giving communities the excellent schools they deserve, and improving outcomes for all children. Our Trust vision is ‘achieving excellence together’, and our key values are Respect, Collaboration and Inspiration.
Today, we comprise seven schools, with around 340 staff and 2600 children. With all the schools in the Trust judged to be either Good or Outstanding at their last inspection, we are in an excellent position to deliver the very best outcomes for all our children. A number of other local schools are currently consulting with their stakeholders with a view to joining the Trust later in 2023, and we envisage that by January 2024 we could potentially be a trust of twelve schools, including a secondary school.
This important role offers an excellent opportunity to build on the considerable achievements of our outgoing School Improvement Lead. We want to appoint someone who can provide professional challenge and support to our school leaders, and ensure that we continue our sustained drive for improvement. Our ambition is to be a beacon of good practice and excellence across the region, and you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that our improvement work achieves ‘greater depth’ across the board.
We see this role as working alongside Heads, but making a distinctively ‘value-adding’ contribution. You’ll need a strong track record of effective school leadership, probably including more than one headship, with a clear and nuanced understanding of high-quality teaching. You may also be Ofsted-trained (or be willing to do so ), and if you are a current inspector that would be an advantage. An appreciative, coaching approach, led by a spirit of inquiry and collaboration, will give you the credibility to introduce the new perspectives and techniques (always firmly rooted in evidence) that can enable our Heads to realise the full potential of their schools.
Excellent leadership and communication skills go without saying, and you must be comfortable working in a high-trust, high-accountability culture. In return, you’ll get to work with an outstanding group of heads in a flourishing and growing trust, and the daily reward of seeing the impact of your work in the outcomes and wellbeing of the children we serve.
