Job overview

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate librarian to inspire and encourage our children to become life-long readers and learners. The post is a key role and will build on the development of the library by integrating the library development plan with the school development plan and continuing its influence on developing literacy across the whole school.

The school librarian will work closely with all teaching staff, particularly the English Subject Lead and line-managed by the Assistant Head. The main focus will be on promoting and supporting reading for pleasure, further developing the Reading for Pleasure Programme and overall literacy, inside and outside the curriculum.

The school librarian has an essential and unique specialist role to play in supporting pupils’ learning and their development into effective, independent learners and readers.

The library is open at mornings, break times and lunchtimes for children to access. The library is a small but inviting and welcoming space, well stocked and has three PCs to aid inquiry learning and catalogue searching.

Please note that we reserve the right to interview and appoint early for exceptional candidates.
