The School is looking to recruit a School Nurse to join the Medical Centre team.

Wellington School currently operates a School Health Centre which is open from 8am to 5pm Monday – Friday and 9am to 1.30pm on Saturdays during term time. Out of Hours cover is provided by an ‘on call’ rota.

 There are currently three School Nurses who work a variety of working patterns to cover the hours outlined above. This role will be 30 hours per week term time only plus weekly on call duties, on a variable rota system which will include some evenings, occasional overnight stays and weekends.

Reporting to the Lead Nurse, the purpose of the role is to ensure the provision of high quality nursing care, health advice and welfare support to pupils and other members of the school community and to plan, deliver and evaluate nursing interventions throughout the school.

As an experienced and qualified Nurse willing to undertake regular revalidation, the successful candidate must have a flexible approach to working and be able to work as part of a team and autonomously in a dynamic environment. Transferable skills are an advantage such as previous experience of teaching and strong administrative skills. Previous school nursing knowledge and experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 900 pupils on the school roll. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The Senior School teaches pupils between the ages of 11-18. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 3 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 35 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.
