Do you want to work in a department that places at the heart of everything we do an emphasis on inspiring lifelong participation for all students and believes passionately in opportunities beyond the classroom?

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and inspirational School Sports Coordinator and Primary PE mentor who will also be a qualified teacher of Physical Education to further build upon the already strong links and outstanding practice with our Partnership Primary Schools.

The successful candidate will be passionate about both primary and secondary Physical Education and committed to raising aspirations and securing sustained progress for all students in the Kidlington Partnership Schools. The successful candidate will be joining a well led, highly successful, forward thinking subject area with a strong team ethos, who are all dedicated to their work and to supporting each other through collaboration. We have excellent facilities, including: an all weather astro turf; modern sports hall with 4 badminton courts; extensive fields and access to a high tech fitness suite. The subject area also has a large dedicated team office and classroom.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Plan and deliver high quality sporting festivals for our primary schools
  • Develop secondary sports leaders
  • Promote, develop and support the delivery of high quality teaching and learning in primary PE.
  • Help Primary staff to develop confidence and competence by modeling good practice and acting as a mentor.
  • Encourage and support schools to provide a broad, rich and engaging PE curriculum
  • Demonstrate and support teachers to achieve high quality outcomes for young people through PE, physical activity and school sport
  • Assist schools to review and update schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Deliver whole school in-service training for teachers and teaching assistants
  • Support the delivery of school sport clubs targeted at the ‘least active/more vulnerable’ children.
  • Support Gosford Hill School’s year 7 transition work with our feeder primaries
  • Facilitate regular cluster networking opportunities
  • Help establish and embed links between schools and local leisure providers and sports clubs, thereby promoting clear pathways for young people into community sport

Do you want to work in a school that:

  • Places high importance on PE in the curriculum which is a very popular subject, having a high uptake of students in GCSE, Cambridge National Sport Studies and A-level.
  • Is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted 2022) where behaviour is good so teachers can teach and students can learn.
  • Has a vibrant extra-curricular programme which is valued by staff, students and parents alike. “Pupils and parents enthuse about the opportunities on offer for sports, drama and music” Ofsted 2022
  • Has a wide variety of sports teams regularly competing and achieving success in county and national competitions across a range of sports, as well as running a successful Key Stage 4 Ski Trip and Year 8 Sports Tour.
  • Has a CPDL programme which is personalised to meet staff needs and offers recognised NPQ and other off-site training and development for colleagues at appropriate points in their career.

The post is suitable for an experienced teacher or an NQT.

  • collaboration that is raising standards, and reducing workload

Welcome to Gosford Hill School

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Gosford Hill School. Our school prides itself on the emphasis that we place on the needs, aspirations and achievement of individual students with learning very much at the heart of our work. We want our students to develop as resilient and autonomous learners, keen to overcome challenges, and take risks, so that they gain the transferable skills needed to enable them to lead fulfilling lives as confident and articulate individuals in our society.

Every student has strengths and talents, and it is our job to find and unlock that potential in every student. Whether it’s sport, art, music, Duke of Edinburgh or World Challenge, we celebrate success and recognise that learning goes beyond the classroom. Students are often more likely to remember the wealth and diverse range of opportunities available to them beyond the classroom as they are faced with new and exciting challenges.

We work closely with parents, and it is our belief that where the school, individual student and their parents work closely together, students will succeed.

It’s a privilege to lead such a wonderful school and I do hope that you find the information on our website helpful. There is so much more to learn about our school though, so I would therefore urge you to come and visit us in order to find out and experience for yourself why students, parents, staff and our wider community are so proud of our school.

Mr Nigel J. Sellars
Headteacher

School Vision and Ethos

“An inspiring school at the heart of the community giving our students an excellent educational experience, equipping them as resilient life-long learners”.
