Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Science to join our dynamic trust, in one of our Doncaster departments and surrounding areas. This role will be based in only one school; however, we have several opportunities in a number of our 11-18 schools including: Outwood Academy Adwick and Danum in Doncaster.

There also Outwood academies in Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Wakefield and Barnsley. Excitingly at Outwood Academy Adwick we have introduced the T Level Health (2023) and are currently planning the T Level Animal Care (2025) for our Post 16 students, with top class specialist facilities. At Outwood Academy Danum we are to introduce the T Level in Engineering (2025) and are looking at refurbishment of rooms to facilitate this course. To be part of either department at this time is an exciting venture as we look to provide the most beneficial routes into employment for our students.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science. You will have good subject knowledge, a passion for Science, and want students to love Science as much as we do. As a member of the Outwood Family you will share our vision of “Students First”. If you are looking for the chance to teach at Post 16, both Danum and Adwick have those opportunities.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) are proud to be a part of the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) hosting its North and East campus as Outwood Academy Redcar and Outwood Academy Adwick. The NIoT identifies best practice in education, in order to develop cutting-edge, evidence-based teacher training and professional development programmes. OGAT colleagues will benefit from the work of the institute, which draws on the expertise of some of the most outstanding school leaders in education today. For our ECT colleagues a full and detailed programme of support and development, including science subject specialism support will be provided.

Positions within our Doncaster schools are eligible for government assistance through the DfE Incentive initiative (up to £6000/year) and the Claim back Student Loans Repayment scheme.

We are an 11-18 academy based just north of the large, friendly, South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.

We have been a member of the Outwood Family since 2009, and in our 2023 Ofsted inspection the academy was graded Good in all categories. The inspection noted ‘the school has a supportive and caring culture. Staff build arm and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential. Staff are proud to work at the school’.

We offer a holistic education that makes learning stimulating, engaging and enjoyable for every student.

The inspectors were equally complimentary about our sixth form provision, with a wide range of courses on offer; including A Levels, vocational qualifications and T-levels.

We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence for 3 years, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
