Job overview
KS4 + KS5
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science who can teach GCSE Combined Science (Trilogy), GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, A-Level and BTEC to join our University Technical College (UTC). This role is suitable for an NQT.
Our UTC opened in September 2014 in a new state of the art building. This is not only a relatively new school but a new approach to educating 14–19-year-olds, which is possibly the most exciting change in the education landscape in decades.
All students at UTC Heathrow specialise in either Engineering or Digital subjects; at 14, they will study a broad and balanced curriculum and at Post 16 the curriculum becomes more specialised, with A levels in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science. In addition, students can study a specialist BTEC Level 3 course in Engineering or IT/Computing. At capacity, we will be educating 500 students who will all have a passion for Engineering or Digital; it is a truly inspirational environment.
This role will provide you with:
- Focussed teaching - only teaching KS4 and KS5 classes
- Passionate students
- Opportunities for career development as the UTC grows and across Activate Learning Education Trust
- An opportunity to be at the forefront of STEM education
If you believe that this is an environment where you can thrive, develop and substantially contribute to an exciting future for UTC Heathrow, then you are encouraged to explore further by contacting HR, Gemma Gardiner, for a more detailed discussion, if required.
Completed application forms with an accompanying supporting letter should be emailed to hr@heathrow-utc.org
Closing date: Midday, Thursday 12th December 2024
Interviews will take place on the week beginning Monday 16th December

About UTC Heathrow
UTC Heathrow is a mixed University Technical College located in Northwood in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It offers its 14-19 year-old students a range of full-time technically-oriented courses with an emphasis on engineering, maths, science and IT. It currently has just under 250 students enrolled but this is expected to expand to its maximum capacity of 400.
UTC Heathrow {originally known as Heathrow Aviation Engineering UTC} opened in 2014 - in response to growing demand for high-calibre professional engineers and technicians, aided by partnerships with Brunel University London, and major local employers British Airways plc and Heathrow Airport.
Students regularly get the chance to work on practical projects with these partners as part of their study, as well as more traditional classroom-based and workshop learning.
