We are looking for a Second in Humanities. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT/ Brakenhale and become an integral member of the Humanities team. We are proud of our Humanities curriculum: it has been designed to capture the vast and impressive aspects of life that we seek to pass onto the students in our care. We understand the great important that understanding topics on humanities plays in the lives of our students, as they grow to question more around them. We encourage our students to not only find answers, but to ask questions too. The team enjoys working closely together and are looking for someone who will share our ethos and have the love of teaching Humanities at the heart of all we do. The successful candidate will join a team who are passionate about engaging and inspiring young people in their learning. We are looking to recruit a colleague with both the commitment and relevant skills to drive our raising standards agenda across the whole ability range.

Main responsibilities:
- To assist the Head of Humanities in setting, monitoring and evaluating the subject pupil attainment targets in KS3, KS4 and post 16 public examinations to make a measurable contribution to whole school targets and student progress.
- To act as a role model in leading subject staff through their own high-quality teaching, continuous professional development and professional presence in the department.
- To assist the Head of Humanities in curriculum development to ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high quality and cost-effective curriculum programme.
- To assist the Head of Humanities in providing regular feedback for subject colleagues in a way which recognises good practice and supports their progress against performance management objectives resulting in a tangible impact on student learning and progress.

You will need:
- Relevant degree
- Qualified Teacher Status or be working towards
- Experience of working in a school setting
- Experience of leading and managing strategies within the Humanities department
