DBIS seeks a Drama teacher who will develop academic and performance skills in students of all abilities, boosting their confidence through engaging lessons and exciting theatrical productions. As part of a combined Drama and English department, the successful applicant will enjoy a dynamic, integrated approach to teaching. Responsibilities include leading school productions in collaboration with the Performing Arts department. Enthusiastic, qualified and successful candidates passionate about the Drama and English connection are encouraged to apply; outstanding applicants may be considered for a leadership role within the English department (second in department).
To be considered, it is essential to have:
- A bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in Drama or English or a closely related field;
- A relevant postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS);
- Experience teaching Drama (KS3 and (I)GCSE) and preferably also English to a high quality at Secondary School level within the English National Curriculum framework;
- Experience in leading school productions and performances.
It is desirable to have:
- A master's or postgraduate qualification in a related subject;
- Experience working with EAL students (English as an Additional Language);
- Experience or interest in being an examiner for (I)GCSE and/or A Level.
All new teachers are offered two-year renewable contracts and a competitive compensation package, with a gratuity of 18.75%, an additional monthly cash allowance, remuneration of school fees for one child and full medical and dental insurance for the employee.
