About the role

About you

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Slovakia including holding a degree in the subject specialism.

Key tasks and responsibilities (See Job Description)

  • Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school ensuring that children are working towards being truly bilingual, international citizens.
  • Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting are of the highest quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students.
  • Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to the school development plans and growth.
  • Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively.
  • Be able to teach Secondary Science subjects (Chemistry experience preferred) Year 7 To Year 13
  • Use the student tracking and monitoring process to advance student learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities.
  • Take personal responsibility for professional development.
  • Effectively communicate the school’s narrative, being an ambassador for our school at all times.

Selection process

The closing date for application is 5.12.2024.

Initial interviews will be held with the Head of Secondary/HR, final shortlisted candidate interviews will be with the principal.

About The British International School Bratislava

The British International School Bratislava is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational all-through independent school with sixth form in Slovakia, serving students from the age of 2 -18. This all-through school is situated in Bratislava.

The British International School Bratislava opened in 1997 and welcomes students from over 42 nationalities every year. Students follow an international curriculum, studying towards IGCSE exams and later an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Facilities include a newly opened creative arts centre, a gym, a theatre, science laboratories, outdoor play areas and sports courts. Pupils are taught in English and offered Slovak language lessons.
