St. George’s School seeks a well-qualified professional to teach German at first language level and/ or at advanced foreign language level in our flourishing secondary department, to begin in January 2025.
The School
Serving the international community in Cologne for over 40 years, with the pupils studying for the double combined award as part of the IB Diploma (or IB Careers Programme) St. George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth form.

The Location
Located on a new, purpose built campus on the outskirts of Cologne, St. George’s School enjoys direct transport links to the city centre, as well as to the greater area of Cologne-Bonn.

The Role
We are seeking to appoint a qualified Secondary Teacher of German to work in our flourishing secondary department to teach German as a first and German as a foreign language at an advanced level.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.
Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility and the desire to support other team members is essential. A strong desire to contribute to the rich pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school will also be an advantage.
German teachers work across the whole secondary department and play an important role in monitoring pupil development. They keep careful track of pupils’ progress and maintain regular dialogue with parents.
German is taught at a range of differentiated levels, with classes split between those learning German as a first language, and those learning as a second and/ or foreign language. Foreign language learners follow an accelerated course, and it is our aim that all learners achieve proficiency in the language. First language learners follow the local curriculum for German. All pupils take IGCSE examinations in German as a first or foreign language. German is taught at all levels within the IB Diploma.
