Job overview

You can be an associate! Earning between £35-45 an hour delivering bespoke, interest based learning to students 1:1 within their own homes or out in the community. Working as a self-employed associate, your role is to meet the needs of the individual student with targets from a specialist framework, working towards person centred goals. 


With an app especially developed with our input, your logs take 10 minutes after each session and with no formalised lesson plans, your nights will be spent on your activities, not catching on paperwork. You don’t want to let your career or years of training go to waste so come learn about life as a Teacher outside the classroom.

Person Specification

  • You’ll have a Qualified Teaching Status certificate or equivalent. 
  • You’ll have extensive experience working with students with a range of complex additional needs.
  • You’ll have at least two years teaching experience post NQT.
  • Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way. 
  • You’ll have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student centred way.
  • You're willing to register as self-employed.
  • You’ll have a strong commitment to safeguarding.
  • You’ll have the resilience to manage potentially challenging situations. 


Role Description

  • Developing relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs.
  • Understand the importance of emotional regulation and can implement strategies to support/model this appropriately.
  • Be part of developing and delivering a holistic curriculum that focuses on all four areas of the EHCP. 
  • Create interest based learning opportunities linked to students targets.
  • Have detailed knowledge of a trauma informed approach.
  • Following the guidance in each person's individual risk assessment/student plan to support them to manage their anxiety and behaviour in a positive way and to keep them and others safe.
  • You’ll use a range of strategies in supporting the range of additional needs we work with.
  • Travel around Portsmouth and the Isle of White to visit students.
