Job overview

The boutique school is in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and supports students Year 1- 9 who have a range of additional learning support needs including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADHD and students diagnosed with Autism.

The school’s approach to learning is threefold and consists of a hand-on student centered approach to the British National Curriculum, evidence-based intervention in literacy and numeracy, and cognitive enhancement support to address underlying cognitive functions, ultimately making learning more efficient. The bespoke approach to learning facilitates student growth in self-confidence and preparation to take on new challenges in school and life.

Working closely with the Director, the SENCo will be in a direct leadership role within the school. The SENCo must:

• be an exceptional classroom practitioner, with expertise in SEND and SEMH

• have a strong commitment to raising standards and improving the quality of teaching and learning for all students by staying current in best practices and innovative strategies 

 • provides professional leadership to teachers through weekly meetings, learning walks and appraisals 

• support Director in operational and academic matters and have a comprehensive understanding curriculum

• have experience in data analysis and its use to successfully support school improvement and impactful change

• be responsive, highly approachable and can inspire colleagues, students, and their families

• have a full understanding of processes involving children in care, child protection and safeguarding and be committed to working in partnerships

• be fully committed to developing effective independence for students beyond school

The remuneration for the SENCo role is CI $47,500 per annum commensurate with experience. Other benefits include medical insurance and contribution to a pension plan.
