King Edward VI High School is part of the Walton Multi Academy Trust and is a mixed, fully comprehensive, 11 – 18 High school with over 600 pupils and each individual is inspired and supported to achieve their potential and “Be the best they can be”.
Governors wish to appoint a dedicated and experienced Senior Science Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate will be helpful and proactive with a willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
Main Purpose
To provide high-quality technical support to the science department, ensuring the smooth and efficient preparation and distribution of apparatus and materials required for practical lessons and assessments. To maintain the safe storage of chemicals and apparatus, and to act as the health and safety representative for the science curriculum area.
Responsibilities include
- Co-ordinate the preparation and distribution of apparatus to laboratories.
- Assist teaching staff with demonstration lessons and practicals.
- Set up and test experiments before lessons and assessments.
- Carry out the annual audit of stock.
- Ensure the safe storage of chemicals and apparatus.
- Act as the health and safety representative for the science curriculum area.

King Edward VI High School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Westway, Stafford. It is a community state school, smaller than average, and will provide 1,049 places to secondary and sixth-form students aged 11-18, when fully subscribed.
The school was established in 1550, providing free education to young boys under the name of the Free Grammar School of King Edward VI. In 1907, Stafford Girls’ High School was established nearby to provide a grammar school education for girls. Seventy years later, King Edward VI Grammar School and Stafford Girls’ High School were amalgamated to create King Edward VI High School.
