Spalding High School is an 11 – 18 academically selective community girls’ grammar school with boys in the sixth form and has an excellent reputation within the local community and region. We are a popular, happy and successful school with strong support from governors, parents, students and a dedicated and highly experienced team of staff. Our examination results regularly place us as one of the highest-ranking state schools in Lincolnshire and we regularly feature on the Times Top 200 list. Students come from throughout South Holland as well as from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Peterborough.

We are a progressive school with an innovative curriculum and a rich and diverse extra-curricular programme. Our commitment to developing the whole person prepares students well for the challenges and opportunities that they will face in the rapidly changing world in which they live.  Personal development from childhood to adulthood is also of great importance to us. Our students grow into independent, articulate young women (and young men in the Sixth Form) who take responsibility for their lives and make decisions about their futures in an informed and intelligent way. We are proud of our excellent pastoral care and guidance that ensures that no student is lost in the crowd.

We are looking forward to meeting you and hope that you will want to join us in taking this happy and highly achieving school to the next stage of its development.

Spalding High School is an 11-18 grammar school for girls with a co-educational sixth form. There are currently 958 on roll with 217 in the sixth form. Pupils come from throughout South Holland as well as from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Peterborough. There are 67 teaching staff and 40 non-teaching staff.

The School boasts a very pleasant site, opened in 1959, and enjoys good facilities. We are proud of our happy, caring, purposeful and well disciplined environment.

Our academic results are very pleasing; every year we are one of the highest performing schools in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands at both GCSE and A Level.

In September 2003 we became a specialist Sports College which has enabled us to enhance our sports’ facilities and curriculum. In 2004 we opened a Performing Arts block comprising two music rooms and a large drama studio and are pleased that only last week we were recommended for Gold Standard Arts Mark. In 2005, we opened the Millennium Block comprising a geography block and Careers’ Centre, and in 2010 our sports hall was doubled in size and we opened our multigym, one of the best in South Holland, to the public. (School staff have free use of the facilities). In 2012, we opened a new sixth form centre. We are committed to developing the ‘whole person’; sport, music, drama and other extra-curricular activities are all positively encouraged.

We have a large number of support staff who cover many duties and responsibilities. When the need arises, team members support each other. Administration and Finance offices are extremely busy areas involving considerable contact with staff, students, parents, other school visitors and outside agencies.

With the substantial number of visitors to School, the safety of staff and students is paramount and, consequently, security awareness is a constant feature. The School takes the safety of its members very seriously, and all appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance.

Spalding High School is an extremely happy and successful place to work; thank you for your interest in joining our team.

For further information about the school, or for an informal visit, please contact the Headmistress’ PA, Mrs Jayne Knight
