We have a fantastic opportunity at our Salisbury Campus for an experienced and interactive Specialist Learning Support Teacher to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.

We are looking for conscientious and hard-working individuals who are passionate about supporting individual pupils on the SEND register by planning and preparing lessons assessing pupil progress, including those with EHCPs, including a child with Down Syndrome.

You will: 

  • Have experience of working with children and young adults at Key Stage 2-5
  • Have experience working with children with literacy and numeracy difficulties. 
  • Have experience working with children with communication and interaction difficulties. 
  • Have knowledge of effective strategies which aid children with communication and interaction difficulties 
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils
  • Be able to coordinate provision for a single student within a wider team 
  • Provide appropriate role models of behaviour both in the classroom and around the school. 
  • Have A*-C grade GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English 
  • Have relevant experience for the role or Qualified Teacher Status / recent degree or similar SEND related qualification.
  • Uphold and promulgate the OneSchool Global UK ethos within all areas of responsibility 
  • To work with due regard to confidentiality and the principles of Data Protection, encouraging others to do the same 
  • To perform such other duties as may be requested from time to time commensurate with the role 
  • It would be useful to have a working knowledge of Makaton or sign-a-long and experience in cued articulation.

Key responsibilities:

  • To assist and support individual pupil(s) on the SEND register by planning, preparing and delivering lessons, assessing pupil progress and next steps, in conjunction with the class teacher, subject teachers and Regional Heads of Department 
  • To support other children as required, including those with EHCPs, including a child with Down Syndrome.
  • To deliver lessons in conjunction with the class teacher and/or subject teachers and, as Key Worker, to coordinate the delivery of lessons delivered to the ‘key student(s) assigned’ by other members of the Learning Support team 
  • To assess and monitor pupil progress and plan next steps for children on the SEND register 
  • To plan effectively to meet the needs of individual pupils with Special Educational Needs and, in collaboration with the Learning Support Coordinator (LSCO), prepare, implement, monitor and review Individual Educational Plans 
  • To work towards pupils’ individualised targets as set out within the EHCP, in liaison with the class teacher, subject teachers and Regional Head of Department and LSCO 
  • To make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the LSCO, RSENCO, Educational Psychologist or other outside agencies 
  • To work in partnership with the parents to promote their involvement in working with the school to achieve the best outcome for the pupil(s) 
  • Identify and share the most effective teaching approaches for pupils with additional learning support needs. 
  • To work as part of the team to ensure that the wellbeing and personal development of the pupils enhance their learning opportunities and life skills 
  • To provide regular feedback to the Class teacher / Subject teacher / KS Lead / LSCO and relevant outside agencies (as directed) about the pupils’ difficulties and progress 
  • When necessary, contribute to pupils’ annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting
