The Department

Sport is a vital part of the curriculum at TPS. The vision of the sports department is that we believe that each pupil should be given an opportunity to shine within sport and enjoy themselves, regardless of their ability. Each pupil will represent the School at sport and while it is competitive, it is also important for pupils to experience enjoyment and pleasure through participation.

Curriculum

Our PE and Games curriculum encompasses a variety of sports which enables pupils to experience and apply their skills to different sports.

In Pre-Prep our focus is on introducing, exploring and building skills using a wide variety of equipment and activities.

From Year 3 to Year 6, pupils learn football, short tennis, badminton, handball, volleyball, dance, gymnastics and basketball in their PE lessons.

Our girls in Year 3 to Year 6, enjoy participating in netball, hockey and cricket during their Games lessons.

Pupils swim from Year 1 to Year 5 using external facilities and outside coaches provide specialist coaching.

Throughout the school year, we regularly compete against other schools in fixtures and tournaments. In addition our pupils enjoy competing in local and national tournaments in a wide variety of sports.

Our sports programme is also complemented by a quality co-curricular after school club programme.
