Job overview

We are seeking to recruit to the full time post of Strategic Lead for Education Access and Organisation for Warwickshire County Council. The role provides leadership and management in relation to place planning, home to school transport and admissions. The role, alongside colleagues leading on school improvement and services for learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities, reports to the Head of Education and Learning.

Warwickshire is currently re-invigorating the Strategy for Education. As a member of the senior team you will be instrumental in the ongoing development and implementation of this plan. You will help to further integrate services across Education and Learning and work with a range of partners in and beyond the Council.

We aspire to Warwickshire being the best place in which to live, grow up and work. You will make a valuable contribution to the process by ensuring the sufficiency of places through from Early Years to post 16. We believe that we champion, challenge and empower those we work with and for.

Warwickshire provides many challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. We estimate that in the next fifteen years there will be at least 68,000 new homes built in the county. Generating around 30,000 additional learners, this will require the building of nearly thirty new schools in addition to the expansion of others. Home to School transport is a key issue and ensuring fair access and admissions within an increasingly diverse educational intake is going to be a challenge.

Key Requirements

This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Should you wish to find out more about the position please contact John Edwards 01926742612/ johnedwards@warwickshire.gov.uk for a confidential discussion.
