Job overview

We are currently recruiting for a Student Funding Officer to join our committed Student Services department.

As an integral part of the student funding team you will be responsible for providing information and advice on the full range of financial support services available to students, both internal and external and how to access them.

Please note that this is a part time position working 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

  • To provide face-to-face, online and telephone support with general information and advice for students across all college sites as required, including triage of student funding across different campus buildings
  • To assist students and potential students to access relevant information, advice and support to ensure an outstanding student experience.
  • To understand the rules and regulations relating to the various bursary funds administered by the College, and advise students of their entitlements and potential sources of funding.
  • To process applications for any funding administered by the College.
  • Make decisions about the eligibility of students and their awards/payments in line with College and funding body regulations
  • To answer queries relating to pending funding applications, payments, attendance and cancelled payments ensuring data protection regulations are followed at all times.
  • To calculate payments for childcare awards. This will include liaising with childcare providers and having an understanding of childcare funding available outside the College.
  • To administer claims for Premium Bursaries and Care-to-Learn payments through the Education Funding Agency portal.


Hybrid working is negotiable for this role. This means you may be able to work a proportion of your time on campus and some remotely. We are open to discussing this with you during the application process as we recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working.

Education & Training

  • GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale.
  • GCSE A*- C or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A – C) or prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Experience of working in an education setting
  • Experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience of delivering high standards of customer service in a pressured environment
  • Experience of providing information and advice to a wide range of people.
  • Experience of assessing information against set criteria.
  • Experience of using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of people
