Subject Driver Science
TLR 2b (£4,441)
St Paul’s Way Trust School, in association with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), is seeking to appoint an outstanding, creative and forward-looking Subject Driver for Science.
This is an exceptional career opportunity for a colleague who is ready to take on a leadership position and who is passionate about the entitlement of young people to a rich and varied curriculum. You will be an outstanding classroom teacher, with a track record of achieving strong academic results and a compelling vision for the leadership of innovative teaching and learning. You will have a contagious enthusiasm for science that excites and motivates both staff and students, coupled with an unwavering belief in the potential of every learner, and a robust commitment to ensuring that every student succeeds.
Our exceptional links with QMUL, King’s College London, The University of Warwick, The UCL Institute of Education and the University of East London help shape an inspirational science curriculum including that we are London’s only Faraday science school. Science is an increasingly popular subject at KS4 and KS5 with the majority of students in our expanding academic sixth form studying at least one of the sciences.
The excellent sixth form teaching has been enhanced by the creation of the Science Research Centre. This has allowed our sixth form students to engage and participate with real research through the Authentic Biology Project. We are seeking to expand such projects into chemistry and physics.
Members of the Science team may also, if interest is expressed, have the opportunity to work with academic colleagues at QMUL, to extend their own subject expertise (through our innovative Teacher Fellowship scheme) and to deliver a unique foundation year medical course at QMUL’s Whitechapel campus with honorary lecturer status.
Our award winning new building is situated in the heart of East London. Professor Brian Cox OBE is our Patron.
If you would like to play your part in delivering outstanding provision for our students, whilst receiving the very best support to develop your career, then we would very much like to hear from you.
Deadline for applications: Midday, Friday 29th June 2018
