ACS are looking for Substitute Teachers to join their team on a casual basis. We are looking for Teachers with experience of teaching different subjects and age groups. We are particularly interested in lower school teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements/delivers effective lessons as outlined by the absent teacher
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned
  • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the supervisor and school personnel immediately
  • Communicates effectively with parents when/as needed
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
  • Continuously strive to improve professional competence and collaboration with colleagues and communities
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
  • Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and completes other duties as assigned (i.e. cover for other academic support positions).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educated to bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) minimum - related subjects
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent teaching experience, working with students grade K-12
  • Strong IT skills preferred, good IT skills essential
  • Experience teaching the IB or AP curriculum is preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Ability to comply with written and or oral instructions
  • Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel
  • Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills
  • Fluent in English

ACS Cobham International School is a mixed, mainstream, all-through school with sixth form, for students aged 2-18. This independent school is located in Cobham, Surrey, and has approximately 1300 students enrolled.

ACS Cobham International School was founded in 1975 and is one of four ACS schools in England and Qatar.
